First of all, we would refrain from the use of word ‘bidding’ which means, lower bid wins. We truly believe that quality comes at a price, and it’s not the bid, but the value of the consultant’s experience that is critical to the success of the project (and in turn BrainHire). We do not restrict consultants from putting estimates higher than the client budget, rather we highly recommend that they place their estimates based on their hourly rates and the expected project duration (hours required). We do have a minimum rate/hour requirement ($70/hr) and minimum project budget ($250 minimum).

When clients post a project on BrainHire, with a detailed description, timeline, budget and desired consultant qualifications, BrainHire freelancers will be able to browse for active project postings and provide estimates on projects which are suited to their expertise and experience level. Also, we have a matching algorithm that connects and recommends consultants and clients.

This varies by client and their level of urgency. Our BrainHire team is automatically flagged for prolonged open postings, and we will diligently aid our clients to either make a selection or close out their project after an appropriate period of time.

Our BrainHire team is well equipped to help mediate any issues which may arise. However, we ask our clients to diligently vet out their potential consultants and detail out their projects in terms of expectations, delivery timing, and budget. We also encourage our consultants and clients to communicate when there seems to be a change in scope mid-way of the projects, so that either the project scope stays within the original request OR budgets and timelines can be adjusted accordingly to accommodate new changes.

One of our key target segment is Boutique consulting firms, and we support them in staff augmentation and full-time hires. We have a dedicated business development team that specializes in working with Boutique consulting firms in understanding your resources requirements and finding the right candidates for you. We do require an individual from your firm to signup as a representative, and complete their profile on BrainHire(do mention about the size of your team and your areas of expertise, so we can assign the right projects to you).

The only way you can work outside of BrainHire, is if you wish to hire your consultant full time with a notification and 10% fee paid to BrainHire. Otherwise, working outside the platform of BrainHireviolates our terms of use. Both the client and the consultant will be permanently removed from our site, should this happen.

When you launch a project and hire a consultant, BrainHire immediately collects the entire fee and holds it in escrow. This protects the client, as it ensures that consultant will be paid only upon successful completion of the project. Depending on what the client and the consultant agree, the consultant will either be paid in one lump sum upon completion or in increments depending on milestones completed for longer term projects. For this, BrainHire offers a convenient milestone tracking feature. This fees of 7% is deducted from the payment made to the freelancer. For example, if the project payment is $1000, BrainHire retains $70 and Consultant gets paid $930 at the successful completion of the project. If you hire a consultant full-time off our site, we will charge you a 10% fee of their first year of salary. The only fees charged to the client are the payment processing fees that are charged by the payment processor Paypal, or Stripe. These fees are pass-through and are not BrainHire fees.
